Do my documents leave my phone?
No. Scanning, OCR and every PDF and image tool run on your device. There is no document cloud and no account. A document leaves your phone only when you share or export it yourself.
What does the app send, then?
On the free tier, ads through Google AdMob, including the advertising ID. Crash reports and anonymous usage analytics through Firebase, and analytics can be switched off in Settings → Privacy & Data. Feature flags and pricing through Firebase Remote Config. If you buy Pro, the app confirms the purchase with our server: the request carries the purchase token from Google Play, an anonymous installation ID and the app's version number. About once a day the app also asks Google Play to confirm it is the genuine, unmodified app (Firebase App Check with Play Integrity). No document content is included in any of it, and nothing goes to any AI service.
Does ScanCrypt work offline?
Yes, for the work itself. Turn on airplane mode and scanning, OCR and the PDF and image tools work exactly the same. A connection is needed for ads, purchases and their confirmation, update checks, and the two tools whose job is the network: Web to PDF and WebDAV sync. Two things also download once: Google Play services fetches the on-device models for OCR, barcodes, ID photos and background removal (the app asks for them at install), and Make Searchable fetches a font pack for non-Latin scripts.
Do I need an account?
No. Install it and scan. There is no sign-up, no email and no login anywhere in the app.
What does Pro cost?
Pro Lifetime ₹649 / $7.99 once, or Pro Annual ₹249 / $2.99 per year. Prices vary by region. Purchases go through Google Play, and Pro also removes all ads.
What stays free?
Scanning and 20 tools stay free with no time limit, including OCR, signatures, annotation, doodle, QR and barcode scanning, templates, Read Aloud, backup, image compress and resize. Free scans carry no watermark.
Which Android versions and languages are supported?
Android 7.0 (API 24) and up, on phones and tablets. The app is available in 15 languages, including Hindi.
Is there a watermark on free scans?
No. Free scans are exported without any watermark.
Does ScanCrypt use AI on my documents?
No. The released app sends no document content to any AI service.
Is ScanCrypt open source?
No. The privacy claims are checkable without the source: the airplane-mode test, and the Data safety section on the Play listing, which lists exactly what the app sends.
How do refunds work?
Purchases are made through Google Play and follow Google Play's refund policy. If something is wrong, email support@cryptonstudio.app and a person will reply.

Is this the ScanCrypt ransomware-recovery tool?
No. This ScanCrypt is the Android document scanner and PDF editor made by Crypton Studio, on Google Play since March 2026. ScanCrypt by IronSights, a Windows and macOS tool for recovering ransomware-hit files, is a separate product with no connection to this app.
